Understanding Allergy, Individual Marker, Lentil
What is Allergy, Individual Marker, Lentil?
Allergy, Individual Marker, LENTIL is a lab test used to measure the amount of lentil-specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibody present in the blood. Lentil allergy is associated with mild symptoms like skin rashes, itching, vomiting, diarrhea, and severe symptoms like shortness of breath (anaphylaxis).
A doctor may recommend this test to check if you are allergic to lentils. High levels of lentil-specific IgE in the blood indicate a possible allergy to lentils. Lentil allergy can be managed by avoiding consumption of lentils.
Allergies are hypersensitive reactions observed in certain individuals when they get exposed to certain substances like food, drugs, etc. These substances are called allergens. IgE is an antibody (a protein) produced by the immune system that mediates allergic reactions.
