What is Pulmanry Function 6min Walk Test?
Pulmanry Function 6min Walk Test is done for assessing the functional capacity of patients with cardiopulmonary disease. During the test a patient is asked to walk as far as possible for six minutes at normal pace and continue to walk back and forth for six minutes. Distance covered, pulse, oxygen level and blood pressure are monitored during the test.
This test is commonly advised to people with pulmonary hypertension, interstitial lung disease, pre-lung transplant evaluation or COPD. It can also be used to monitor the response to treatments for heart, lung and other health problems.
