Ticlopidine is used to prevent heart attack, unstable angina and stroke. It decreases the chances of having another stroke, heart attack, or death from a disease related to your heart or blood vessels.

How Ticlopidine works

Ticlopidine is an antiplatelet medication. It works by preventing platelets from sticking together, thereby decreasing the formation of harmful blood clots. This lowers the chance of stroke or heart attack.

Take it with food to help you lower your chance of having an upset stomach like nausea and vomiting.
Ticlopidine increases your risk of bleeding. Be careful while shaving, using sharp objects, or cutting fingernails or toenails.

If you are scheduled to undergo a surgery or dental treatment, you may be asked to stop taking Ticlopidine temporarily.
