Nafithromycin
Information about Nafithromycin
Nafithromycin Uses
Nafithromycin is used in the treatment of bacterial infections.
How Nafithromycin works
Nafithromycin works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria that produce infections of the lungs and the respiratory system. Nafithromycin is a member of the new antibiotics known as ketolides, which have been formulated to bind firmly to the protein-producing machinery (ribosomes) of the bacteria. In doing so, it prevents the bacteria from producing proteins essential for their survival and proliferation. In contrast to some of the older antibiotics, Nafithromycin remains in the lungs for a longer duration, allowing it to more effectively kill bacteria with a briefer treatment. This makes it a robust and effective choice for the treatment of some resistant bacterial infections.
