Mesterolone is a type of naturally occurring male sex hormone, testosterone. It is used in the treatment of male hypogonadism (a condition in which the body does not produce enough testosterone). It is also used in the treatment of male infertility, caused due to low testosterone levels.

You can take this medicine with or without food. The dose and duration for which you need to take this medicine are decided by your doctor depending on your medical condition. Make sure to follow the doctor’s advice. It is recommended that you take this medicine at the same time each day, to ensure consistent levels of the medicine in the body.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and follow your usual dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one.

The common side effects associated with this medicine are frequent or persistent erection, acne, hirsutism (excess hair growth), weight gain, baldness, mood changes, prostate hyperplasia, increased libido, and gynecomastia (abnormal enlargement of breast in men). If any of these side effects bother you, consult with your doctor as soon as possible.
