Yavasa has great medicinal importance in Ayurveda. The roots, stem and twigs of this plant contain certain constituents that have potent medicinal properties.
According to Ayurveda, applying Yavasa powder along with milk or rose water helps reduce skin infections, skin rashes and speeds up wound healing due to its Ropan (healing) and Sita (cooling) properties. Topical application of Yavasa powder along with coconut oil might also provide relief from pain and inflammation caused due to arthritis as it possesses anti-inflammatory property.
Yavasa powder consumption helps improve digestion thereby provides relief from constipation due to its Pitta and Kapha balancing in the body[1-4].

1. Constipation and Piles
Yavasa improves digestion and lowers the risk of constipation and also helps to provide relief in the symptoms of hemorrhoids/piles like irritation, itching, redness, soreness and swelling around anus due to its property of balancing Pitta and Kapha doshas in the body.
2. Stomatitis
Yavasa Kwatha (decoction) helps to cure redness of mucous membrane of the mouth due to stomatitis (painful swelling of mouth and lips). Gargling with Yavasa kwatha gives quick relief to heal stomatitis due to its Kashaya (astringent) and Sita (cold) qualities.
3. Cough and Cold

Recommended Dosage of Yavasa
- Yavasa Churna - ¼-½ teaspoon twice a day.
How to use Yavasa
1. Yavasa Churna
a. Take ¼-½ teaspoon Yavasa churna.
b. Mix with honey or water after take after lunch and dinner.
2. Yavasa Kwatha
a. Take 1 teaspoon Yavasa powder
b. Added with 4 cup water and boiled till 5-10 min.
c. Remove from heat, strain the solution, add honey and mix it well.
d. Have it 0nce or twice a day after taking food
