Amaltas also known as Rajvraksha in Ayurveda has bright yellow flowers. It is considered as one of the most beautiful trees of India.
Taking Amaltas churna with warm water after lunch and dinner might be beneficial in managing blood sugar levels as it enhances insulin secretion due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity. It also helps in weight management as it improves body metabolism. Amaltas might also help manage urine disorders and remove toxins from the body by increasing urine production due to its diuretic activity. It is also useful for fever and cough due to its antipyretic (reducing fever) and antitussive (cough relieving) activity. Consuming Amaltas fruit pulp paste along with warm water helps to manage constipation due to its laxative property.
Applying Amaltas leaf paste along with honey or cow’s milk helps to get relief from pain and inflammation. You can also apply Amaltas leaf paste to promote wound healing and manage skin infections due to its antibacterial and antifungal properties.
According to Ayurveda, excessive intake of Amaltas might cause conditions like cough and cold due to its Sita (cold) activity[1-3].

Benefits of Amaltas

1. Skin Allergy
Paste or juice of Amaltas leaves is good to reduce itchiness and irritation in various skin problems due to its Madhur (sweet) and Ropan (healing ) properties. As a result of these properties, Amaltas gives a soothing effect and reduces irritation in the skin when used on a regular basis.
Tips:
a. Make a paste of Amaltas leaves.
b. Mix with coconut oil or goat’s milk.
c. Apply on the affected area once a day or thrice a week to get rid of skin allergy or irritation.

2. Abdominal pain
A paste of Amaltas fruit pulp when applied externally around the navel area give relief from abdominal pain due to flatulence by ensuring evacuation especially in children.
Tips:
a. Take 1/2-1 teaspoon Amaltas fruit paste.
b. Mix with sesame oil.
c. Apply on the navel area to get rid of abdominal pain.

3. Wound healing
A paste of Amaltas leaves helps in quick healing of wound when applied due to its Ropan (healing) property.
Tips:
a. Take ½-1 teaspoon paste of Amaltas leaves.
b. Mix with honey and apply on the affected area.
c. Leave it for 4-6 hours and wash with plain water.
d. Repeat daily for quick wound healing.

1. Amaltas Paste
A.Of Leaves
i. Take a handful of Amaltas leaves or as per your requirement.
ii. Make a paste of the leaves.
iii. Take ½-1 teaspoon of the paste of Amaltas leaves.
iv. Mix with honey and apply on the affected area.
v. Leave it for 4-6 hours and wash with plain water.
vi. Repeat it again the next day for quick wound healing.

B. Fruit pulp paste
i. Take 1/2-1 teaspoon Amaltas fruit pulp paste.
ii. Mix with sesame oil and apply on the navel area to get rid of abdominal pain.
