Depending on the area to be imaged, you may be asked to wear a hospital gown at the time of the scan.
Pregnant women should inform their doctor (and x-ray technician) as the radiations may affect the fetus. If needed, precautions can be taken to lower the radiation exposure to the fetus.

Understanding Resting MUGA

What is Resting MUGA?

Resting MUGA is a nuclear medicine study which determines the functioning ability of your heart. It also detects if any heart damage is there due to any heart conditions. A radioisotope is used to visualize the heart which bounds with specific agents and targets certain areas. The radioactive material is identified by the nuclear gamma camera and it is then placed on an image. The radioisotopes are removed from the body through urine. The complete procedure takes about 60 minutes.
