What is MR Angiography With Contrast?
MR Angiography (MRA) With Contrast refers to a technique that involves the use of contrasting agent alongwith normal MRA. The test is used to evalaute vascular structures of the body to confirm disorders such as stenosis, occulsions, aneurysms or other abnormalities. The test can be ordered in case of elevated blood pressure or impaired kidney functions.
Why is MR Angiography With Contrast done?
- To detect the properties of blood or other fluids like cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)
- To diagnose any blockage (occlusion), abnormal narrowing (stenosis) or weakness in the arteries, veins and aorta.
- To find out any congenital abnormalities right from childhood in blood vessels.
- To evaluate aneurysms (ruptured or dilated blood vessel wall) of neck, brain, thorax, abdomen, leg and knidneys.
