Vedolizumab is used in the treatment of Ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, psoriasis, ankylosing spondylitis and rheumatoid arthritis.
How Vedolizumab works
White blood cells (WBCs) are made by the immune system to fight infection. In Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease, overproduction of WBCs leads to inflammation. Vedolizumab works by stopping the WBCs from entering the lining of the gut.
Common side effects of Vedolizumab
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them
