It can happen to anyone, but it becomes more common with age. Women experience UI twice as often as men.
1. Most bladder control problems happen when muscles are too weak or too active. If the muscles that keep the bladder closed are weak, while sneezing, laughing or lifting a heavy object, uncontrolled urination may occur. This is stress incontinence.
2. If bladder muscles become too active, and the person feels a strong urge to go to the bathroom more often, it is an urge incontinence or overactive bladder.
