Factor IX Activity test is a blood test used to check the level of factor IX, a protein that plays an important role in the blood clotting process. If the level of factor IX is too low in the blood, it can lead to a bleeding disorder called hemophilia B in which there is prolonged bleeding after an injury, cut, or trauma and even spontaneous bleeding without any apparent cause. Hemophilia B is an inherited disease so this test can be done when there is a family history of bleeding disorders.
