L-Methionine reduces histamine release. It has also been used in the treatment of rheumatic fever and toxemia resulting from pregnancy. L-Methionine helps eliminate fatty substances that obstruct arteries, including those that supply the brain, heart, kidneys. L-Methionine is a sulfur agent required for the production of Glutathione, and works most effectively when taken with B-complex vitamins.
How it works
L-methionine is a precursor to L-cysteine. L-cysteine itself may have antioxidant activity. L-cysteine is also a precursor to the antioxidant glutathione. Antioxidant activity of L-methionine and metabolites of L-methionine appear to account for its possible anti-hepatotoxic activity.
Common side effects
Brain death, Increased homocysteine in blood, Brain injury, Cardiac disorder
