Choline Salicylate+Tannic Acid is used in the treatment of mouth ulcers.
How Choline Salicylate + Tannic Acid works
Choline Salicylate + Tannic Acid is a combination of two medicines: Choline Salicylate and Tannic Acid. Choline Salicylate is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) which cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling) in the mouth. Tannic Acid is an astringent which works by forming a protective layer over mouth sores while exerting antiviral and antibacterial effects.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

  • Choline Salicylate + Tannic Acid is used to treat painful mouth ulcers.
  • Using a clean finger to massage the gel onto the sore area, not more than once every 3 hours.
  • Avoid eating and drinking immediately after applying Choline Salicylate + Tannic Acid.
  • Avoid putting dentures or braces back in the mouth for half an hour after applying the gel in your mouth.
  • Use a soft toothbrush after consulting your dentist.
  • Avoid spicy foods, acidic fruit drinks, and very salty foods (such as crisps) which can make the pain and sting worse.
  • Do not smoke while using Choline Salicylate + Tannic Acid as it might cause some side effects.
  • Consult your doctor if your pain does not improve after using this medication for 7-14 days, or if your symptoms get worse.
Frequently asked questions for Choline Salicylate + Tannic Acid
The use of Choline Salicylate+Tannic Acid should be avoided in children. This medicine contains choline salicylate and the use of salicylates is supposed to cause Reye's syndrome. This syndrome affects the brain and liver, and can be fatal. Avoid the use of Choline Salicylate+Tannic Acid if you have an allergy to salicylates or Aspirin.
Inform your doctor if you are taking Aspirin or any other medicine with an anticoagulant (blood thinning) activity. Choline Salicylate+Tannic Acid contains salicylates and together, they may increase the risk of bleeding.
Keep this medicine in the packet or the container it came in, tightly closed. Store it according to the instructions mentioned on the pack or label. Dispose of the unused medicine. Make sure it is not consumed by pets, children and other people.
