High triglycerides
Definition
Triglycerides are a type of fat found in your blood. Too much of this type of fat may raise the risk of coronary artery disease, especially in women.
Causes and Risk Factors
Factors that can raise the triglyceride level include:
1. Overweight

Investigations
Your doctor may recommend a blood test to measure the triglycerides along with the cholesterol. The normal triglyceride levels are below 150 and levels above 200 are high.
Treatment and Prevention
The triglyceride levels can be decreased with a combination of a few modifications such as:
1. Losing weight
2. Healthy diet
3. Moderate exercise
You may be prescribed with medicines to lower your triglycerides.
