Ever noticed your cheeks looking puffy—even when you’re eating healthy or not overeating at all? Don’t worry, it doesn’t always mean weight gain. There are several sneaky reasons your face might appear swollen or bloated.

High salt intake (even from hidden sources like chips, pickles, or packaged foods) can cause your body to hold onto water—especially in your face.

Periods, pregnancy, or even certain medications can trigger hormonal shifts that make your face look fuller or puffier.

Not sleeping well can mess with your body’s fluid balance, causing puffiness around your cheeks and eyes.

Inflammation due to allergies, sinus infections, or even weather changes can lead to facial puffiness.

Ironically, not drinking enough water can cause your body to hold onto whatever it gets—leading to water retention and puffiness.

Dehydration

Even a small amount of alcohol or excess sugar can trigger inflammation and bloating, especially noticeable on the face.

Stay hydrated, reduce salt and sugar intake, sleep well, and try cold compresses if your cheeks feel extra puffy. If it happens frequently, check in with a doctor.
