Mefkind Forte Tablet is a combination of two medicines. It is used in the treatment of fever. It is also useful for the treatment of mild to moderate pain of various conditions like headache, body ache, and toothache.

Mefkind Forte Tablet is to be taken with food. This will prevent you from getting an upset stomach. The dose will depend on what you are taking it for and how well it helps your symptoms. You should take it as advised by your doctor. Do not take more or use it for a longer duration than recommended by the doctor.

The most common side effects of this medicine include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, indigestion, loss of appetite, and heartburn. If any of these side effects bother you or get worse, you should speak to your doctor. Your doctor may be able to suggest ways of preventing or reducing the side effects.

It is effective in relieving pain caused by headache, migraine, nerve pain, toothache, sore throat, period (menstrual) pains, arthritis and muscle aches.
Take it as it is prescribed to get the most benefit. Do not take more or for longer than needed as that can be dangerous. In general, you should take the lowest dose that works, for the shortest possible time.

In Treatment of Fever

Mefkind Forte Tablet is also used to reduce a high temperature (fever). It works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause fever. It may be prescribed alone or in combination with another medicine. You should take it regularly as advised by your doctor.

Side effects of Mefkind Tablet

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Use of Mefkind Forte Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.
Liver
CAUTION
Mefkind Forte Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Mefkind Forte Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
However, the use of Mefkind Forte Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease.

What if you forget to take Mefkind Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Mefkind Forte Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

The use of Mefkind Forte Tablet is considered to be harmful for patients with known allergy to any of the components or excipients of this medicine or in patients with known allergy to other painkillers (NSAIDs). The use of this medicine should preferably be avoided in patients with a history of stomach ulcer or in patients with active, recurrent stomach ulcer/bleeding. It should also be avoided in patients with a history of liver or kidney disease.

Yes, Mefkind Forte Tablet can be taken with Vitamin B-complex preparations. While Mefkind Forte Tablet helps to relieve pain, Vitamin B-complex can help correct the vitamin deficiency that might be causing the underlying painful condition.

Q. Can the use of Mefkind Forte Tablet cause damage to kidneys?

Yes, the long-term use of Mefkind Forte Tablet can cause damage to the kidneys. Normal kidneys produce a chemical called prostaglandins that protect the kidneys from damage. Use of painkillers lower the levels of prostaglandins in the body which leads to kidney damage on long-term use. Use of painkillers is not recommended to patients with underlying kidney disease.

No, taking a higher than the recommended dose of Mefkind Forte Tablet can increase the risks of side effects like nausea, vomiting, heartburn, indigestion, diarrhea and can also damage the kidneys on long-term use. If you are experiencing increased severity of pain or the pain is not relieved by the recommended doses, please consult your doctor for re-evaluation.
