My father has been suffering from low ejection fraction (15-20 %), it was diagnosed in Jan this year when his prolonged cough didnt stop despite taking medicine. Docs advised for CABG but my father strongly resisted it and decided to be on medication. Now he is taking Clopidogrel+Aspirin (Generic Tablet being sold by Janausadhi), Lasilactone, Monotrate and Atorvastatin. When he was put on Metoprolol and Ramipril he complained of severe tiredness and weakness thus we were having no option other than stop giving these two medicines. Flavedon was also being given to him which later on was stopped as per prescription. Now what troubles me is which salt should i choose, can clopidogrel, metoprolol and flavedon (trimetazidine) be taken together and if not then which one out of these three would be having faster rate of effectiveness. Should i also continue with lasilactone ans he never complains of urine accumulation in the urinary bladder and can monotrate replace ramipril? Pls advise

Q. Is Flavedon a beta blocker?

No, Flavedon is not a beta blocker. It is an anti-anginal medicine which is used in combination with other medicines to treat angina pectoris (chest pain caused by coronary disease). It protects the heart cells from getting affected by the reduced oxygen supply during an episode of angina.

Q. Who should not take Flavedon?

You should not take Flavedon if you are allergic to it or have severe kidney problems. Patients with Parkinson’s disease should also avoid taking Flavedon. Parkinson’s disease is a disease of the brain which affects movement and causes trembling, rigid posture, slow movements and a shuffling, unbalanced walk.

Q. Can Flavedon be used in elderly patients?

Flavedon should be used with caution in patients aged more than 75 years of age. Usually, a lower dose is prescribed in elderly patients to reduce the chances of adverse effects. It is important to continuously monitor such patients.

Q. Does taking Flavedon increases the risk of falling down frequently?
