Why is the PCOS Package Advanced important?
Helps evaluate hormonal and metabolic markers commonly associated with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a common endocrine condition affecting women of reproductive age.
Assesses hormone levels and metabolic markers that may reflect androgen excess, ovulatory dysfunction, and insulin resistance, offering insights into overall reproductive and metabolic health.
Supports early identification of abnormalities suggestive of PCOS, which can guide timely medical consultation, especially since PCOS may remain under-recognised due to varied symptoms.
Why should you consider the PCOS Package Advanced?
If you have symptoms commonly associated with PCOS, such as irregular periods, abnormal hair growth (hirsutism), acne, weight gain, hair loss, or concerns related to fertility.
If you have risk factors such as a family history of PCOS, overweight/obesity, or features suggestive of insulin resistance.
To monitor changes in hormonal and metabolic markers if you are already undergoing treatment for PCOS, as part of ongoing medical follow-up.
To evaluate metabolic parameters such as glucose regulation and lipid levels, as women with PCOS may have a higher long-term risk of metabolic complications.
What does the PCOS Package Advanced measure?
Contains 26 tests, including:
Androgen & Hormone Panel: Measures Testosterone Total, Testosterone Free, Dehydroepiandrosterone Sulphate (DHEA-S), and Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG) to assess androgen levels, which are often elevated in PCOS but must be interpreted in a clinical context.
Ovarian Reserve & Cycle Regulators: Includes AMH (Anti-Mullerian Hormone), often higher in women with PCOS, but is not diagnostic on its own, along with Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Luteinising Hormone (LH) to support evaluation of menstrual cycle regulation and ovulatory patterns.
Serum Prolactin: Evaluates prolactin levels, as elevated prolactin can cause menstrual irregularities and should be ruled out when evaluating PCOS-like symptoms.
17 Alpha Hydroxy Progesterone: Helps screen for adrenal-related hormonal patterns and conditions such as non-classical congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), which can present with symptoms similar to PCOS.
Metabolic Health Markers: Includes HOMA IR (Insulin Resistance Index) and Glycosylated Hemoglobin (HbA1c) to assess glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity, which are commonly altered in PCOS but require clinical correlation.
Lipid Profile: Evaluates cholesterol and triglyceride levels, to assess cardiovascular risk factors, as PCOS is associated with a higher prevalence of lipid abnormalities.
Thyroid Profile Free (FT3, FT4 & TSH): Screens for thyroid dysfunction which can coexist with PCOS and contribute to menstrual, weight, and fertility concerns.

Disclaimer :

The PCOS Package Advanced is intended for screening and monitoring of hormonal and metabolic markers associated with PCOS. It does not diagnose PCOS on its own.

Diagnosis of PCOS requires clinical evaluation, medical history, and imaging (such as pelvic ultrasound), along with laboratory findings. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for interpretation and further management.
