What is CECT Right Ankle Joint?
A CECT right ankle joint or Contrast-Enhanced Computed Tomography of the right ankle joint is an imaging technique that helps create three-dimensional images of the ankle joints, which are used to evaluate any injury or other disorders associated with the right ankle joint like fractures, injuries, dislocations, and joint instabilities.
In this technique, rotating beams of x-rays and contrast material are used to create a detailed image of the right ankle joint's internal structures like ligaments, joint capsule, soft tissue, and blood vessels.
There are very few risks associated with CECT right ankle joint scan; exposure to radiation during the procedure may sometimes cause minor side effects. An abnormal scan test may indicate the presence of suspected infection, osteoporosis (weakened bones), and other deformities.
Why is CECT Right Ankle Joint done?
- To detect fractures of the bones of the ankle joint not visible on a simple X-ray
- To detect the cause of any unexplained pain in the ankle joint
- To detect any infection, injury or inflammation of the soft tissues like the muscle, the tendons and ligaments of the ankle joint
- To diagnose any suspected infection, osteoporosis, deformities or abnormal growth of the bones and arthritis (inflammation of the joints)
