What is Lymphocyte Percentage?
Lymphocyte Percentage detects the % of lymphocytes out of total white blood cells. Lymphocytes are the type of white blood cells that plays an integral role in developing immunity. Abnormal lymphocyte percentage is a sign of an infection.
What is Lymphocyte Percentage used for?
The test is usually done as a part of a complete blood count test. You can also be asked to get tested if your body shows any of the following symptoms:
• Acute viral infections
• Chills
• Tuberculosis
• Any form of bone marrow disorder
• Autoimmune or immune diseases
Interpreting Lymphocyte Percentage results
Interpretations
The normal percentage of lymphocytes which should be present in the body is 25%-30%. An increase in the cell can cause hepatitis, multiple myeloma, lymphatic leukemia, bacterial infections among others. Low count can lead to bone marrow damage, HIV, autoimmune disorders etc.
