The Flowcytometry: PNH With Flaer test is a highly sensitive method for detecting Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH), a rare acquired disorder of blood-forming stem cells. PNH causes red blood cells to break down prematurely due to missing surface proteins that protect them from complement-mediated destruction. This test uses FLAER (Fluorescent Aerolysin), a reagent that binds specifically to GPI-anchored proteins, enabling precise detection of abnormal blood cell populations lacking these proteins. Flow cytometry simultaneously analyzes red cells, white cells, and platelets, allowing detection of even small PNH clones using CD45, CD15, CD64 and the GPI-linked antibodies CD14, CD24, as well as fluorescent Aerolysin (FLAER). It is useful for diagnosing PNH, monitoring disease progression, and assessing response to treatments like eculizumab.This test requires a blood sample and is performed using advanced flow cytometry technique that quickly identifies and measures different types of blood cells to help diagnose and monitor immune and blood-related conditions.
