DCP-Decarboxy-Prothrombin-PIVKA-II test is used to detect an abnormal coagulation protein called PIVKA-II. It is a diagnostic tool used to detect and monitor hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which is the most common form of liver cancer. This test is useful for risk assessment of patients with chronic liver disease for the development of HCC. It also acts as an aid in the monitoring of HCC patients post-therapy, if the des-gamma-carboxy prothrombin (DCP) level was elevated before therapy.
