Extractable Nuclear Antigens (ENA), Quantitative Profile is performed to find out the existence of one or more anti-nuclear autoantibodies in the blood of an individual. These autoantibodies react with nuclear proteins which can be extracted from the nucleus of the cell and cause autoimmune Connective tissue disorders. This is a quantitative test that quantifies various antibodies to diagnose and manage autoimmune disorders such as mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD), lupus (SLE), Sjögren syndrome, scleroderma, and polymyositis/dermatomyositis. The test also helps to monitor the disease progression. Signs and symptoms of an autoimmune disorder may vary but most common symptoms include fever, fatigue, skin lesions, muscle pain, swelling in the joints, hair loss, hemolytic anemia, etc.
