What is CECT Head And Orbit Axial?

Contrast Enhanced Computerized Tomography (CECT) scan of the head and orbit is a diagnostic procedure in which a contrast material is injected and the rotating beams of X-rays are used to create cross sectional images of the head, eyes, orbits and eye sockets, and surrounding bony and soft tissues which is further helpful in forming a three dimensional image of the head and the orbits.

Why is CECT Head And Orbit Axial done?

  1. • To detect fractures in the skull bones or along joints of skull bones • To determine problems of the eyes, bones around the eyes, and optic nerves • To plan interventional and reconstructive procedures of the head and orbit • To detect the presence of tumor in the brain • To assess the auditory bones to determine disorders • To diagnose the cause of symptoms like persistent headcahe, confusion, dizziness, sudden loss of consciousness, etc. • To guide biopsy of brain tumors • To guide surgical procedures of the face and head
