CT Head (Plain)

Computed Tomography (CT) Head (Plain) is an imaging procedure where rotating beams of X-rays are used to create a detailed three-dimensional image of the head to detect damage or other disorders of the brain and skull.

This test is prescribed by the doctor to detect fracture of the skull or damage to the brain due to trauma, to detect the presence of tumors and guide in treatment procedures, to determine the risk of strokes, and to detect the inflammation of the meninges.

CT exams generally use a small amount of radiation and are therefore considered relatively safer as compared to X-rays.The major advantage of CT is its ability to image bone, soft tissue, and blood vessels and therefore it provides more detailed information on head injuries, stroke, brain tumors, and other brain diseases than regular x-rays.
