What is Renal - Color Doppler?
Renal - Color Doppler/ Doppler ultrasound of the kidneys is used for real-time assessment of blood flow in the kidney/renal arteries. It helps to detect the vascular changes in kidneys and aids in diagnosis of kidney diseases.
It can predict damage of the kidney tissues at an early stage and helps to detect the rejection of transplanted kidney, renal artery stenosis in hypertensive patients and evaluation of chronic kidney disease.
Why is Renal - Color Doppler done?
- To evaluate the blood flow patterns in the blood vessels of the kidney
- To diagnose any changes in the blood vessels like narrowing of the arteries of kidneys
- To detect narrowing of renal arteries or renal stenosis
