Overview
What is CECT Face And Neck?
A Contrast-Enhanced CT (CECT) Scan of the neck and face involves the injection of contrast material and rotating X-ray beams to generate a comprehensive 3D picture of the face and neck's bones and soft tissues. The goal of CECT is to detect illness by increasing the contrast between a lesion (injury) and its normal surrounding structures.
In certain circumstances, a lesion will be hypovascular in comparison to normal tissue. Whereas in others, a lesion will be hypervascular compared to surrounding tissue during a specific phase of enhancement. As a result, depending on the illness you are searching for, it is critical to understand which phase a CECT should be performed.
Why is CECT Face And Neck done?
- Contrast Enhanced Computerized Tomography (CECT) Scan of the face and neck is a diagnostic procedure in which a contrast material is injected and the rotating beams of X-rays are used to create a detailed three dimensional image of the bones and soft tissues of the face and neck. The area covered in this test includes facial bones, air filled hollow sinuses, salivary glands, cervical vertebrae, larynx (voice box), larynx, windpipe (trachea) and epiglottis.
