What is CECT Elbow Joint?
CECT Elbow Joint or Contrast-Enhanced Computed Tomography Elbow joint scan is a diagnostic imaging procedure that helps get cross-sectional images of the elbow joint. It also helps identify underlying problems such as damage to tissues, tendons, and/or bone problems in the elbow. In this, contrast material is injected. The rotating beams of X-rays are used to obtain three-dimensional images of the elbow joint, detailing the entirety of the field of interest.
CECT Elbow Joint scan is a non-invasive safe procedure except for a few minor side effects. Increased exposure to radiation and allergy to the contrast dye used during the procedure may cause skin rash, most of which resolves within a week. An abnormal result may indicate injuries, fractures, or birth defects, in the elbow joint.
