What is CECT Scan PNS - Axial View?
A CECT PNS - Axial or Contrast-Enhanced Computed Tomography of the Paranasal Sinuses (PNS), is a structural imaging technique to get detailed images of the paranasal sinuses. It also helps to evaluate and assess the abnormalities in the internal structures of paranasal sinuses (an air-filled hollow space in the bones of the nasal cavity). In this scan, rotating x-ray beams are used to create cross-sectional images of the PNS.
CECT PNS is a safe imaging procedure. However, the contrast material used during the procedure may sometimes cause allergic reactions such as flushing, loss of taste in the mouth, which usually subside within a few seconds. An abnormal test can indicate the presence of a tumor, polyps, infections, or injury in the sinus cavity.
