CECT Joint

A CECT Joint or Contrast-Enhanced Computed Tomography scan is a medical diagnostic imaging technique that helps narrow down the cause of an injury or illness associated with the joints. The scanning technique uses X-ray beams and a contrast material administration to create 3-dimensional images of the joint. These images help physicians in the early detection and diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, build-up of synovial fluid, and abnormal growth of cell mass.

CECT scan is a quick, painless procedure. However, the use of contrast material may trigger temporary cross-reactions such as skin rash, irritation, and nausea. An abnormal joint scan may indicate damages of the connective and soft tissues of the joints, fractures, lesions, or tumors. Pregnant women must inform the concerned authority beforehand.
