What is MRI Tractography?

A Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) tractography creates a picture of the neural tracts by assessing axonal (white matter) of the brain and its surrounding soft tissues.

This test is done to monitor the development of the brain and neurodegenerative brain disorders (Dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s), to find out brain disease that alters the brain’s function, and to detect brain tumors.

Why is MRI Tractography done?

  2. To diagnose congenital abnormalities like leukodystrophies (destruction of white matter of the brain),
  3. To find out encephalopathies (brain disease that alters its function) and psychiatric disorders
  4. To detect any brain tumor and peroperative planning, epilepsy, ischemia, stroke and traumatic brain injury
