What is Factor Xa Antibody?
The Anti-factor Xa antibody test is performed to indirectly measure the amount of the anticoagulant heparin in the blood. It is used to monitor treatment for thrombosis by Unfractionated Heparin therapy and in some cases to monitor treatment by Low Molecular Weight Heparin therapy.
Why is Factor Xa Antibody done?
- When excessive clotting of blood is observed even within the blood vessels
- If a person has a greater risk for developing such blood clots within blood vessels
- To measure efficacy of the treatment by Unfractionated or Low Molecular Weight Heparin
