Brucella Antibody, IgM
Overview
What is Brucella Antibody, IgM?
Ziehl Nielson (ZN) stain is used as an identification marker for acid fast bacteria (AFB) responsible for causing infectious diseases. Most common disease caused by AFB mycobacterial species is tuberculosis which frequently affects the lungs and sometimes brain, bones or kidneys. Sputum is a thick, cloudy and sticky mucous coughed up from inside the lungs and is used as sample for this investigation.
Tuberculosis spreads through coughing and sneezing and its symptoms include fever, sudden weight loss, persistent cough, fatigue, headache etc. A positive test warns of immediate medical intervention. This test is also used to check the efficacy of ongoing TB treatment.
Regular smoking increases the risk of infection and apart from that coming in direct contact with a TB infected person increases the likelihood of getting infected.
