What is HIV-DNA PCR - Qualitative?
HIV retrovirus when enters into the human cells, its RNA gets converted into cDNA via reverse transcription. The virus is responsible for causing acquired immune deficiency syndrome. A proviral form, HIV DNA is formed which is responsible for perinatal HIV infection. The HIV DNA PCR Qualitative test diagnoses the presence of this proviral DNA in suspected patients.
Why is HIV-DNA PCR - Qualitative done?
The test is required to be done to detect acute HIV infection in children and adults who are receiving treatment for the disease and also to determine the eradication of the virus in individuals.
Interpreting HIV-DNA PCR - Qualitative results
Negative test result indicates absence of the proviral HIV DNA in the cells of the individual.
