CK19
Understanding CK19
What is CK19?
The CK19 is an immunohistochemistry test that is used in detecting thyroid tumors. Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma (PTC) is a common type of thyroid tumor. The CK19 test is one of the best markers for distinguishing between PTC and thyroid nodules.
Nodules are fluid-filled lumps in the thyroid and are often non-cancerous. Moreover, symptoms of thyroid cancer, such as a lump in the neck, a pain in the front of the neck, change in voice, and trouble breathing and swallowing are often caused due to non-cancerous conditions, too. Therefore, it is important to get a perfect diagnosis.
The CK19 is a safe test which gives an accurate diagnosis. It can determine the difference between thyroid nodules and thyroid tumors. This further helps in providing the appropriate treatment.
