What is DOG-1?
The DOG1 Antibody test is performed to diagnose gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). The DOG1 antibodies can target and detect a marker for gastrointestinal tumors called Anoctamin 1.
Why is DOG-1 done?
- To diagnose stomach tumor when symptoms appear like swelling and pain in the stomach, vomiting, irregular bowel movements, blood in stool, weight loss, jaundice, etc.
- To diagnose and classify a type of tumor after an ultrasound test reveals a tumor in the gastrointestinal tract.
