Overview
What is CECT Ankle Joints?
A CECT Ankle Joints is an imaging procedure that helps get detailed images of the ankle joint.
This is an important procedure that helps detect any injury or inflammation of the ankle joints. It also helps measure bone density and diagnose arthritis and osteoporosis. This technique can detect any fractures that are not visible in an X-Ray and understand the cause behind any pain in the ankle joints.
A contrast material, or special dye, is injected into the veins, after which rotating beams of an X-Ray machine help obtain a three-dimensional image. Inform the doctor if you are pregnant to protect the fetus from radiation exposure.
Why is CECT Ankle Joints done?
- • To detect fractures of the bones of the ankle joint not visible on a simple X-ray • To detect the cause of any unexplained pain in the ankle joint • To detect any infection, injury or inflammation of the soft tissues like the muscle, the tendons and ligaments of the ankle joint • To diagnose any suspected infection, osteoporosis, deformities or abnormal growth of the bones and arthritis (inflammation of the joints)
