It works by slowing down the digestion and absorption of glucose (carbohydrates) from your digestive tract, thereby decreasing the rise in blood glucose levels after meals. It also helps get rid of extra glucose from your body through urine.

Lowering blood glucose levels is an essential part of managing diabetes and reduces the risk of getting serious complications of diabetes such as kidney or eye damage, nerve problems and loss of limbs.

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) may occur if Glucobay M50 Tablet is taken along with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol, or on delaying/skipping a meal. Check your blood sugar levels and have a snack/sugar source for immediate relief.
Seek immediate medical help if you experience any deep or rapid breathing, persistent nausea, vomiting or stomach pain as Glucobay M50 Tablet may cause a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis, which is an excess of lactic acid in the blood.
