How to use Zolapra-D Capsule SR

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Zolapra-DSR 30mg/40mg Capsule is to be taken empty stomach.
Take it preferably 30 minutes before food.

How Zolapra-D Capsule SR works

Zolapra-DSR 30mg/40mg Capsule is a combination of two medicines: Domperidone and Pantoprazole. Domperidone is a prokinetic which works on the upper digestive tract to increase the movement of the stomach and intestines, allowing food to move more easily through the stomach. Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which helps in the relief of acid-related indigestion and heartburn.

Taking a large amount of alcohol can increase acidity and cause acid reflux in the food pipe causing heartburn. This would decrease the effect of this drug and can aggravate your underlying condition.
Zolapra-DSR 30mg/40mg Capsule may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Q. What is Zolapra-d?
Zolapra-d is a combination of two medicines: Domperidone and Pantoprazole. This combination is used to treat acidity and heartburn or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD); a condition where the acid in the stomach flows back up into the food pipe (esophagus). It is also used to treat gastric and duodenal ulcers. On the other hand, Domperidone helps to control vomiting. It increases the movement of the stomach and intestines which allows the food to move more easily through the stomach.
Q. Is it safe to use Zolapra-d?
Yes, Zolapra-d is safe to use in most of the patients. However, in some patients it may cause common side effects like diarrhoea, stomach pain, flatulence, dryness in mouth, dizziness, headache and other uncommon and rare side effect. Inform your doctor if you experience any persistent problem while taking this medication.

It is best to take Zolapra-d before the first meal of the day or on an empty stomach.

Yes, the use of Zolapra-d can cause dry mouth. Dryness of mouth occurs due to Domperidone. If you experience dry mouth, drink plenty of water. Take regular sips of water during the day and keep some water on your bedside at night. Cut down the intake of alcohol and avoid smoking. Try to use alcohol-free mouthwash as the risk of tooth decay increases, if you have dry mouth.

Yes, the use of Zolapra-d can cause diarrhea. In case, you experience diarrhea, drink plenty of water or other fluids. Try small frequent sips of the water. Avoid taking fatty or fried foods. Talk to your doctor if you have persistent diarrhea and signs of dehydration like less urination with dark colored and strong-smelling urine.
