Q. How long does the effect of Xynova 5% Injection lasts?
The anesthetic effect of Xynova 5% Injection starts acting rapidly. However, it has a very short duration of action of 10-20 minutes after intravenous injection and 60-90 minutes after intramuscular action. The quantity of medicine reduces into half (into the blood-stream) within 1.5 to 2 hours of taking it.
Q. Is Xynova 5% Injection injection painful?
No, Xynova 5% Injection injection does not cause pain except when it is given as spinal anesthesia. Xynova 5% Injection usually relieves pain in conditions like neuropathic pain and pain occurring after surgery.
Q. Who should not be given Xynova 5% Injection?
Xynova 5% Injection should not be given to patients who are allergic to it, have decreased blood volume (hypovolemia), or complete heart block. If the solution also contains adrenaline, it should not be injected into a vein or used in areas such as fingers, toes, ears, nose or penis, as the blood supply to these areas may not be sufficient.

No, abuse of Xynova 5% Injection has not been observed yet. There are very rare reports of Xynova 5% Injection injection causing any euphoric effect. However, Xynova 5% Injection may cause some psychotic reactions such as fear from death, doom anxiety, and delirium. These are short-lasting and generally disappear after the effect of injection is over.
