How to use Xpect C Syrup
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Xpect C 4 mg/10 mg Syrup may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Take it with food if stomach upset occurs.
How Xpect C Syrup works
Xpect C 4 mg/10 mg Syrup is a combination of two medicines: Chlorpheniramine Maleate and Codeine which relieve dry cough. Chlorpheniramine Maleate is an antiallergic. It blocks the action of a chemical messenger (histamine) which may trigger cough due to allergy. Codeine is a cough suppressant. It suppresses cough by reducing the activity of cough centre in the brain.

Pregnancy

Xpect C 4 mg/10 mg Syrup may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
Xpect C 4 mg/10 mg Syrup is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Larger doses or prolonged use of Xpect C 4 mg/10 mg Syrup may cause sleepiness and other effects in the baby
Driving
Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
As Xpect C 4 mg/10 mg Syrup may cause dizziness, blurred vision or the inability to think clearly.
Kidney
Xpect C 4 mg/10 mg Syrup is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Xpect C 4 mg/10 mg Syrup may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Xpect C 4 mg/10 mg Syrup may cause excessive sleepiness in patients with end stage kidney disease.
Liver
CAUTION
Xpect C 4 mg/10 mg Syrup should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Xpect C 4 mg/10 mg Syrup may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Mam, My wife is suffering in dry cough problem since 10 days and finally she has been admitted in the Hospital 3days before.She has been given antibiotics with Nebulizer and cough syrup.All medicines are coming under B category except the cough syrup (Levodroprozine syrup) which is coming under D category. She is having 6 weeks pregnancy.I am very much worrying that the medicines will harm my unborn baby or not.I have stopped the syrup but she already taken of 30 ml dose in last two days. Hi PATIENT medicines do cause problems in baby. However category B medicines can be taken in pregnancy with some caution. Just 2 doses should not cause much harm but I suggest you avoid all such medicines from now till atleast 11 weeks pregnancy during which time the baby's organs are being developed.
Always he suffer from coughing and looses his weight.Few days ago PATIENT phenergan drops.Now PATIENT from dry cough.

Q. Are there any serious side effects associated with the use of Xpect C?
Serious side effects with Xpect C are uncommon and rare. Tell your doctor as soon as possible if you notice any of the following: allergic reactions, skin rash or peeling, mouth ulcers, breathing problems, unexplained bleeding, recurrent fevers or infections, vision disturbances, fast or irregular heartbeat.
Q. Will Xpect C be more effective if taken in more than recommended dose?
No, taking a higher than the recommended dose may not be more effective, rather it may increase the chances of having serious side effects and toxicity. If you do not find any relief in your symptoms or there is an increased severity of your symptoms while you are taking this medicine in the recommended doses, please consult your doctor.
Q. Can I breastfeed while taking Xpect C?
No, it is not advisable to breastfeed while using Xpect C. This medicine contains Chlorpheniramine, an antihistamine which can pass into the breast milk and may harm the baby. Inform your healthcare provider if you are breatfeeding a baby.
Q. Can the use of Xpect C cause constipation?
Yes, the use of Xpect C can cause constipation. To prevent constipation, eat high-fiber foods like vegetables, fruits, and cereals. Drink plenty of water. Do some exercises like swimming, jogging or take a short walk. Talk to your doctor if constipation persists for a long time.
Q. Can I drink alcohol while taking Xpect C?
No, avoid drinking alcohol while taking Xpect C. Drinking alcohol will increase the risk of serious side effects caused by Xpect C.
