Xcin Gel

Overview

Introduction

Xcin Gel is a local anesthetic cream or gel. It is used on the skin to relieve itching and pain caused by scrapes, burns, rashes, bites, and eczema. It is also used to treat discomfort caused by hemorrhoids (piles) and to numb the skin before receiving an injection.

Xcin Gel can be applied to your skin with your fingertips or cotton wool and you should use the smallest amount needed to relieve your symptoms. You should use it as advised by your doctor. It provides temporary relief and needs to be re-applied according to your instructions. If you apply a large amount over a large area or if you cover the area you have treated, your body may absorb too much of the medicine and cause some side effects. You should not use it on skin which is broken, raw or blistered. If your condition does not improve, or gets worse, you should stop using this gel and talk to your doctor. If it gets into your eyes, nose, mouth or vagina rinse with water.

The most common side effects of using lignocaine gel or cream are redness, rash, burning, and itching on the skin where you have applied it. These are usually mild and short-lived. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects persist or worry you.

Before using it, tell your doctor if you have liver disease or are taking medicines for heart rhythm problems. Although medicines used on the skin are not normally affected by other medicines you should let your doctor know if you are taking any other medicines to be safe. Ask your healthcare team for advice if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

FAQs

Q. Is Xcin a burn ointment?

Xcin does not treat burn. However, it can be used to provide temporary relief from the pain or discomfort caused by superficial or minor skin burns while they heal.

Q. How should Xcin be applied?

Your doctor may advise you to apply the medicine 30-60 minutes before the scheduled cosmetic procedure. Apply a thin layer uniformly on the skin and ensure not to rub off the medicine accidentally. Shortly before the procedure is due to begin, remove the medicine thoroughly with a gauze swab.
