Azithromycin is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the nose, throat, lungs, bronchitis, ear, skin, soft tissues, and sexually transmitted genital and urinary infections.

How it works

Azithromycin inhibits growth of bacteria by stopping its protein synthesis.

Ornidazole is used in the treatment of infections of vagina, urinary tract, intestine and other parts of the body caused by anaerobic bacteria (bacteria that do not use oxygen) or protozoa (amoeba or single-celled parasites). It is also used to prevent these infections during surgical procedures.

How it works

Ornidazole is an antibiotic (anti-bacteria and anti-protozoal) drug belonging to the class of imidazole derivatives. It interacts with DNA inside the microorganism to cause protein synthesis inhibition and cell death.

Fluconazole is used to treat fungal infections of the mouth, throat and food pipe (oropharyngeal and esophageal candidiasis), abdomen, lungs, blood, female genital infections (like vaginal candidiasis) and other organs. Fluconazole is also used to treat fungal infection of the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord (cryptococcal meningitis/ fungal meningitis).

How it works

Fluconazole belongs to class of antifungals called triazoles. Fluconazole acts mainly by preventing the growth of fungi. It interacts with chemicals inside the fungus and prevents the synthesis of an essential component of fungal cell membrane (ergosterol); this results in leakage of cellular contents from fungal cell, ultimately killing the fungi.

  • Do not  Azithromycin with food. Take it  1 hour before or 2 hours after food
  • Do not take Azithromycin if you are allergic to azithromycin, erythromycin , roxithromycin or clarithromycin
  • Do not take any antacids containing magnesium or aluminium for up to 2 hours before and after taking this drug.
  • Consult your doctor before taking this drug if you are pregnant or breast feeding
