Trental belongs to a group of medicines called peripheral vasodilators. It works by increasing the blood flow to the arms and legs. Trental is used to treat peripheral vascular disease (poor circulation to the arms and legs) and intermittent claudication (pain on walking or at rest caused by poor circulation to the legs).
Trental has been found to be effective in treatment of Peyronie's disease. Do not take Trental for a Peyronie's disease unless advised by your doctor. If you think you are suffering from Peyronie's disease, please consult your doctor it requires proper diagnosis and treatment.
Trental works by decreasing the level of TNF-α (Tumor necrosis factor) in alcoholic hepatitis. TNFα is a cell signaling protein (cytokine) involved in systemic inflammation and is increased in alcoholic liver disease (ALD), and alcoholic hepatitis (AH) in particular. Talk to your doctor regarding its use in hepatitis.
