How to use Tenomac Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Tenomac 50 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Tenomac 50 mg Tablet is a beta blocker that works specifically on the heart. It works by slowing down the heart rate and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood around the body.

  • Tenomac 50 mg Tablet lowers your blood pressure and makes it easier for your heart to pump blood around your body.
  • Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes and heart attacks.
  • It may also be used to reduce the number and severity of angina attacks (chest pain caused by heart disease).
  • It may cause dizziness. If this happens to you, get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position.
  • It can hide symptoms of low blood sugar if you're diabetic . Monitor your blood sugar levels regularly.
  • Side effects like headache, cold hands or feet, constipation or diarrhea can be experienced with its use. These are usually mild, short-lived and may not be with everyone. 
  • Any of the side effects other than mentioned above if occur, do consult the treating physician. 
  • Do not stop taking Tenomac 50 mg Tablet suddenly as it can cause your blood pressure to rise suddenly thereby increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Alcohol
CAUTION
Atenolol and alcohol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.
Pregnancy
WEIGH RISKS VS BENEFITS
Tenomac 50 mg Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy.
There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
CAUTION
Tenomac 50 mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
Tenomac 50 mg Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney
CAUTION
Tenomac 50 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Tenomac 50 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Regular monitoring of blood pressure is recommended and can help in better dose adjustment.
Liver
