Tazret Gel

Overview

Introduction

Tazret Gel is a medicine used in the treatment of psoriasis. It works by stopping the overgrowth and thickening of skin cells. Use it only on the affected areas and do not apply on the healthy skin.

Tazret Gel is for external use only. You should always use it exactly as your doctor has told you. The affected area should be clean and dry before application. You must wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying this medicine. This medicine should be used regularly to get the most benefit from it. Do not use more than you need as it will not clear your condition faster and some side effects may be increased. If your condition goes on for longer than four weeks or gets worse at any time, let your doctor know. You can help this medicine work better by keeping the affected areas clean.

Common side effects include itching, skin redness, irritation, dry skin, skin burn, and skin peeling at the site of application. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Please consult your doctor if these side effects persist for a longer duration. Avoid direct contact of the cream or ointment with your eyes. In case of direct contact, wash your eyes with water and seek immediate medical attention.

Avoid sun exposure and cover the treated areas with clothing or use a sunscreen before stepping out in the sun. Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding as it may lead to birth defects.

  • Erythema (skin redness)
  • Itching
  • Skin burn
  • Skin irritation
  • Skin peeling

How to cope with side effects?

The occurrence of side effects varies from person to person. The following are a few ways of dealing with some of the common side effects. However, consult your doctor if these persist.

  • Coping with Dry skin
Use mild cleansing creams or soaps rather than harsh or perfumed ones. Use warm water (not hot) and do not spend too long in the bath or shower. Long bathing hours or using harsh soaps can wash away natural oils. Dry your skin gently with a towel and apply moisturizer immediately after washing. Do not use alcohol-based products on your skin. Choose clothing fabrics that will not irritate your skin.
  • Coping with Skin irritation and Skin peeling
There are many treatments for a wide range of skin problems. Avoid hot showers or baths because hot water can irritate the skin. Make sure to pat dry your skin after a bath or shower. Do not rub or scratch the affected area. Leave the skin exposed to the air as much as possible. Do not use perfumed soaps or deodorants. Water containing chlorine can make most skin problems worse, so avoid swimming. Avoid spicy foods, alcohol, tobacco smoke and caffeine as it may also make itching worse. Avoid excessive sun exposure. Always use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors. Moisturizers can be used regularly to soothe and hydrate the affected area. If it does not get better within a week, speak to a pharmacist or doctor.
