Suminat 50mg Tablet is used in acute attack of migraine.

Side effects of Suminat Tablet


Neck pain, Dizziness, Sensation of heaviness, Sleepiness, Weakness, Nausea, Dry mouth, Jaw pain, Paresthesia (tingling or pricking sensation), Throat pain, Warm sensation.


How to use Suminat Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. It can be taken with or without food, but it is better to take Suminat 50mg Tablet at a fixed time.

How Suminat Tablet works

Migraine headaches are thought to result from the dilatation of blood vessels in the head. Suminat 50mg tablet works by constricting (narrowing) these blood vessels, thereby relieving the migraine headaches.

Expert advice for Suminat Tablet

  • To relieve migraine as soon as possible, take Suminat as soon as the headache begins. 
  • Lying down in a quiet and dark room for a while after you use Suminat may help to relieve the migraine. 
  • Take Suminat only as prescribed by the doctor. Using too much Suminat may increase the chances of side effects. 
  • Notify your doctor if your migraine headaches are occurring more often, than before you started using Suminat.
  • Notify your doctor if you have used Suminat for at least three consecutive months.
  • Avoid driving after taking as it may cause drowsiness and dizziness.
  • Avoid consuming alcohol when taking Suminat, it can cause new and worse headaches.

Suminat 50mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.

Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Suminat 50mg Tablet is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.

It is also suggested that withholding breastfeeding for 8 hours after using Suminat 50mg Tablet would be better.
Suminat 50mg Tablet may make you feel dizzy, drowsy or affec
t your vision. Do not drive until your vision is clear.
There is limited information available on the use of Suminat
50mg Tablet in patients with kidney disease. Please consult your doctor.
Suminat 50mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Suminat 50mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Use of Suminat 50mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
