Sulphacetamide(10% w/v)


Sulphacetamide is used for treating superficial bacterial eye infections like blepharitis (swollen eyelids), conjunctivitis (redness and swelling of the thin layer of tissue that covers the front of the eye) and bacterial infections of skin like acne (pimples), seborrheic dermatitis (swelling, scaling, rupturing of skin) and eczema (itchy skin rash).

How it works

Sulphacetamide belongs to a class of drugs called as synthetic sulphonamide antibiotics. Sulphacetamide works by inhibiting of bacterial para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), an essential component for bacterial growth.

Hydrocortisone(0.5% w/v)


It is used as a cream to treat mild to moderate inflammatory skin disorders such as mild to moderate eczema (itchy skin rash)contact dermatitis (e.g. after contact with certain plants, cosmetics, irritants like detergents), insect bite reactions. Orally it is used to reduce pain, swelling and inflammation and to reduce the body's immune response. In general this drug is used to treat hormonal conditions when the body does not produce enough of its own steroids, and to treat a range of immune and allergic conditions. Hydrocortisone is used as an injection for treating various conditions such as severe allergic reactions, arthritis, blood diseases, breathing problems, certain cancers, eye diseases, intestinal disorders, and skin diseases. The injectable form of hydrocortisone is used when a similar drug cannot be taken by mouth or when a very fast treatment is needed, especially in patients with severe medical conditions. This drug may also be used with other medications as a replacement for certain hormones.

Hydrocortisone belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids. It prevents and treats the allergic and inflammatory reactions by decreasing the number of blood cells that cause inflammation and allergy.

How it works

Phenyl mercuric nitrate belongs to the class of medications called anti-infective agents. It inhibits or kills growth of bacteria or fungi. It also destroys the harmful microorganisms.

Expert advice for SULPHA FH

  • Do not use if the sulphacetamide solution changes color.
  • Seek immediate medical attention is you experience signs of a secondary infection, as long-term or repeated use of sulfacetamide drops may trigger the same. 
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any allergic symptoms such as rash, red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin.
  • Avoid direct contact with the applicator tip to prevent any contamination. Keep the container tightly closed.
  • Do not drive or use any machinery after taking sulphacetamide as it may blurred the vision. 
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding. 
  • Do not take if patient is allergic to sulphacetamide or any of its ingredients. 
  • Do not given Infants less than 2 months.
