How to use Sprot N Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Sprot N 300 mg/200 mg Tablet is to be taken with food.
Taking it empty stomach can cause stomach upset.

How Sprot N Tablet works

Sprot N 300 mg/200 mg Tablet is a combination of two antibiotics: Nalidixic Acid and Metronidazole. Nalidixic Acid works by preventing the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing the bacteria. Metronidazole kills parasites and anaerobic bacteria that cause infections by damaging their DNA. Together, they treat your infection effectively.

Alcohol
CAUTION
Sprot N 300 mg/200 mg Tablet may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heartbeat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure with alcohol (Disulfiram reactions).
Pregnancy
WEIGH RISKS VS BENEFITS
Sprot N 300 mg/200 mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
CAUTION
Sprot N 300 mg/200 mg Tablet should be used with caution during lactation. Breast feeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body.
If a single dose of Sprot N 300 mg/200 mg Tablet is used, it is recommended to hold breastfeeding for 12-24 hours to allow the removal of the drug.
Driving
Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
Sprot N 300 mg/200 mg Tablet may make you feel sleepy, dizzy, confused. You may have hallucinations, fits (convulsions) or temporary eyesight problems (such as blurred or double vision) affecting your ability to drive.
Kidney
CAUTION
Sprot N 300 mg/200 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Sprot N 300 mg/200 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Regular monitoring of kidney function tests is advised if this medicine is to be taken for a long time.
Liver
CAUTION
Sprot N 300 mg/200 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Sprot N 300 mg/200 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

  • Diarrhea can cause dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids to help rehydrate you. 
  • Consult your doctor if your diarrhea lasts for more than 48 hours.
  • Do not use Sprot N 300 mg/200 mg Tablet if you have blood in your stool or if you are severely constipated.
  • It may cause dizziness and sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how it affects you.
